The project 1:554carried out within the framework of the VII José Guerrero Artistic Residency, it was undertaken as an invitation to explore and reinterpret the territory from subjectivity and imagination. This proposal, focused on the representation of the map of Chite (Granada) through a fragmented bas-relief in tiles, transcends mere cartography to enter into a dialogue between space, scale and time.
The book that accompanies this installation is a reflection of the same inaccuracy that a cartographer might make exploring the terrain on foot: conceived and sent to print before the residency, it is an anticipatory, almost prophetic testimony of what the project intended. explore. Through its pages, readers are invited to tour the houses and streets on a 1:1 scale, in a game where the grid becomes a field of playful and reflective possibilities.
This book is not only a documentation of the project, but also an integral piece of the artistic work, a window into the motivations and processes that have nourished it. With the collaboration of diverse voices, such as those of Ana Domínguez Aroca, Daniel Domínguez Romero and Louise K. Houtman, and under the editorial direction of Javier García Pérez, the volume materializes the essence of 1:554a sincere search, guided by curiosity, where the seriousness of the purpose is intertwined with the spirit of the game.
